Chana Masala Recipe
Chana Masala is a delicious and flavorful Indian dish made with chickpeas cooked in a spiced tomato-based sauce. Here's a simple recipe for you to enjoy this classic dish at home.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups cooked chickpeas
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
- In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add pureed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Now, add the cooked chickpeas and stir to coat them with the masala.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
